Moving Forward Together

Year 6 - Summer Term 2008

Welcome back to the final two terms of Y6.  I hope you all enjoyed the break from school.  Although we are two thirds of the way through the children’s final year at Mitton, there are a number of activities planned – and there is certainly still a lot to do!

Firstly we have SATs which begin on Monday 12th May.  The children have been working very hard to remember all they have learnt over the last few years and how to apply it in test situations.  I must commend the children on their positive approach to this and how independent they have been with the work they’ve carried out at home.  Thank you for your support with this, helping them to prepare.  I would be grateful if you could ensure your children have plenty of fresh air, water and sleep during the SATs week as they are bound to feel tired from all the concentrating they will be doing!

We’ve got our Mid-Wales trip on the 3rd – 6th June and we will have an information evening to discuss this further.  We have the Leavers’ Service at the Abbey at 2pm on Tuesday 15th July.  We also have our Mitton Manor Leavers’ Assembly during the final week of the term.  Additionally there will be induction days at the children’s new schools; charities week, sports day and the Leavers’ disco to name a few events.

Of course, we still have much going on in the classroom with lessons continuing as normal, before and after SATs, for example: 2 geography projects, art (people in action), D.T.,(Fairground) and C.P.S.H.E.

I really appreciate and value your support and co-operation over the last two years, and I hope to see you at some of the above events!  Don’t forget to contact me if you have any concerns.
