Year 2 - Summer Term 2008

This term, Year 2 will be assessed for their SATs.  The emphasis is on teacher assessment but there will be some tasks to complete.  As you know we have finished our swimming lessons for this academic year and will now be doing PE on a Monday as well as a Wednesday.  Please ensure your child has pumps in school as we will start to go outside for games when the weather starts to improve!  Our Literacy work will continue to focus on writing using a range of punctuation and extended sentences.  In Maths we will look at using a range of strategies to solve problems and I would appreciate the continued support with the Maths homework.  In Science we will learn about forces and plants and animals.  We will be ‘going to the seaside’ in Geography and learning about Tocuaro.  The children will be using CD roms to find information and learning about Christianity and Judaism in RE.  The children may be asked to bring in artefacts from time to time to support their learning.  This may happen especially when are making puppets and wind-up mechanisms in DT.
