Year 1 - Summer Term 2008

Our Literacy and Numeracy curriculum will continue to be enhanced by you listening to the children read at home, helping with words on the word sheets, filling in the green books (most children should write their own comment now) and giving encouragement to complete the Numeracy homework – thank you. In Science our topics are Light and Dark and Pushes and Pulls, whilst in Geography we will be learning about Traffic in our local area. In History we will be learning about homes and seaside holidays in the past and comparing them with the present day. If anyone has an older relative who has good memories of seaside holidays in the past we would love to hear from you. In Art, we will look at and make small sculptures. Your children will be asked to bring things in for display from time to time – please send in any artefacts connected with holidays from the past – photos etc would be good. Light sources would also be useful. We will take care of them!

Children need pumps in school now please along with their PE kit. When possible we will do PE out on the field. An apron will be needed for Art. Could I remind you that as summer approaches, sun hats and water bottles need to be in school every day – thank you. I look forward to the final two terms of the school year.
